About the film:

Return to Gandhi Road is a New Zealand-made film on the extraordinary life story of Kangyur Rinpoche and of the select few Westerners who discovered him in Darjeeling India in the early 1970’s. Told through the eyes of one of Kangyur Rinpoche’s first Western students, New Zealander Kim Hegan, will trace the journey he made from New Zealand to Darjeeling 45 years earlier, to tell Rinpoche’s story.

About the film-maker: 

The film is directed by New Zealander Yeshe Hegan. The film is told by her father Kim Hegan. Yeshe lives locally in Thames and will be here on the night for question and answers.

Death Cafe

At a Death Cafe people, often strangers, gather to eat cake, drink tea, and discuss death. The object is to increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their (finite) lives. A Death Cafe is a group directed discussion of death with no agenda, objectives or themes. It is a discussion group rather than a grief support or counselling session.

Join us for this a day of connection, harmony, and prayers for world peace! Each faith will share a prayer, followed by a community lunch offered by Mahamudra Centre. If you would like to represent your faith – please get in touch by emailing spc@mahamudra.co.nz We would love to have you share a prayer/song/poem/practice from your faith.
