Nyung Na

Thursday 13 - Saturday 15 March

Nyung nä means “abiding in the retreat.” In other words, you are retreating from negative karmas of body, speech and mind. When you hear, say or think of the word “nyung nä” don’t think only of fasting, of the physical practices involved. Don’t think a nyung nä is only about not eating—there is a much vaster meaning to think about

~Lama Zopa Rinpoche

A Nyung Nä consists of eight sessions spread over two days plus a morning, and requires taking the eight Mahayana Precepts. In each session we practise the sadhana of Chenrezig, the Buddha’s aspect of great compassion, with meditation, fasting, prostrations and strict silence outside of sessions

The 14th March is “Day of Miracles”one of 4 wheel-turning days where merits are multiplied 100 million times

A request from Roy

While being an extremely beneficial practice, Nyung Nä’s can be quite demanding, both physically and mentally
