White Tara Blessing

The White Tara teaching is an introduction to the benefits of White Tara practice, a transmission of the Mantra of White Tara (a Lung) and teachings on how to use the mantra and White Tara Meditation for health and long life.

One  of Tara’s aspect is that she represents the enlightened activity of the Buddha. Lama Yeshe used to say, “Women have quick wisdom.” Tara represents also wisdom, but quick wisdom; it is not deluded wisdom. Also, she represents a long life, and the ability to extend our lifetime not simply because we don’t want to die. If we practice the Dharma, then having a long life is very, very useful.

Also, the white color of her body usually represents cleansing. When we do a purification visualization of White Tara,  we’re purifying things that could shorten our lifespan: things such as degeneration of the elements of the body, or the life force being stolen, or broken ethical restraints, broken precepts, broken commitments.

37 Practices of a Bodhisattva

Gyelsay Togmay Sangpo wrote The Thirty-seven Practices of Bodhisattvas in the fourteenth century. His succinct and simple verses of advice summarize the quintessence of the Mahayana path to perfection. Geshe Sonam Rinchen’s oral teachings elucidate these practices for the modern reader and show how we can transform our actions, feelings and ways of thinking to become Bodhisattvas ourselves.

Manjushri Initiation

Manjushri is the buddha of wisdom and wields a flaming sword that cuts through our confusion, doubts and internal obstacles.
