Community Tree Planting Day
Saturday 19 June 2021
Every year, the impact of human-created climate change becomes more and more evident, with extreme wildfires, storms and floods ravaging the planet. As we watch this environment crisis unfold, we know that it not only affects our generation, but will impact untold generations to come. While it is true that this global crisis will need to be addressed at all levels of government, our individual actions matter, too.
So what can we do?

In November of 2019, Tenzin Osel Hita (the reincarnation of our founder, Lama Yeshe) made a wish out loud: to find a way for people from all over the world to come together over a meaningful project that could be offered to His Holiness the Dalai as a token of gratitude for the never-ending inspiration His Holiness provides the world through his living example.
This came alive in the form of the Global Tree Initiative. An International Collaborative Project dedicated to planting trees and coming together as a global community to create a world where people respect and live in harmony with animals and the environment.
So how can you get involved?
Come Together – 10am-3pm Sat 19 June
Join us for a day of tree planting and community connection. We’ll be planting manuka and flax in this first round of an ongoing project to increase native tree and plant coverage. Join us from 10am to 3pm (or if you just have an hour or two to spare, feel free to drop in when you can). We offer free lunch for all volunteers. Bring your family and friends.
And if you can’t make it in person? Keep reading…
Sponsor a Tree
We need $1500 for this first stage of tree planting. Waikato Regional Council are so kindly offered to sponsor one third of whatever we spend on native trees. So between us we just need to raise $1000 – if you would like to contribute click here or transfer to 02-0304-0025397-005
Every dollar you offer makes a difference – no donation is too small.
Together we can create a conscious, wise, warm-hearted world.
We are dedicating our good-hearted activities to the long life of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, all wise, kind spiritual teachers, the planet and every sentient being.
