vajrasattva & shamatha meditation retreat

vajrasattva-cut-out.jpg

This meditation retreat is ideal for those who are in need of purification and would like to develop a calm, focused and clear mind through the Tibetan Buddhist technique of Shamatha/Calm Abiding.

The meditation sessions will be guided and include:

- The practice of Vajrasattva, a powerful purification meditation that uses visualisation & mantra recitation.

- Shamatha meditations, to concentrate the mind. Firstly based on the breath, gradually moving to being aware of the mind itself.

These meditations have proven to improve health, remove anxiety, bring inner happiness and a clearer perspective on life and on relationships. This retreat will provide you with methods to transform difficulties, bring serenity, and resilience. The combination of these two meditations might bring the contentment and meaning you are seeking.

The retreat is suitable for anyone new to meditation and for those familiar with meditation who want to deepen and enrich their practice. After it, participants will have enough tools to continue and build up their own daily meditation practice.

It will be gadget free, include moments of full silence and vegetarian meals. Within its beautiful and peaceful surroundings, Mahamudra Centre provides special & conducive conditions for practice.

We seem to live in a busy and speedy world where there is so much to do and so much that comes towards us. It can be very beneficial to take time out from one’s daily routine, to step back from one’s day to day responsibilities and work with one’s mind. A great benefit of practicing in retreat is that there are no distractions so you can really be with yourself. Simplifying your days gives clarity to the mind. You can just focus on your inner landscape, on just this one breath, on just this one step.

11th of June is Sakadawa ~ a powerful Buddhist Multiplying Day, commemorating the birth, enlightenment, and paranirvana of Buddha Shakyamuni. That day we will do a special practice together.

Wednesday 11 - Sunday 15 June
